Wrapping-up the second year of ownership

TL;DR What a year

πŸ“„ First, I take the opportunity to shed some light on the Index page I wrote over the past week-ends.
It’s available as the first item in the left-hand navigation bar of the blog. Content is sorted by topic, allowing to find what one could be looking for - the calendar thing is basically useless.

πŸŽ‚ Two years then... It went both quickly and slowly, with the car stuck in the garage waiting for parts or paint for nearly five months. That made me miss the driest spring/summer season but I somehow managed to drive around 15 000 km despite that.

We did attend about 10 events and longer trips, from Mont Saint-Michel (shown above) to the Black Forest, club events, blats with Seven friends, a charity drive... and a first track day.

Even if it sometimes looks and feels like a "Sisyphus' Caterham" story with the need for near constant upkeep, the worst issues so far have been a pair of 70€ oxygen sensors and a ~25€ thermostat that will be replaced with the next service. By the time I get a new thermostat, it could have appeared on the official parts shop, let's see.

πŸ“° Finally the biggest news : I've been looking for (and have found) a garage during the Christmas holidays. I went for a visit on Dec 30th and signed on the spot, with a final commitment in form of a down payment wired on Dec 31st. As of today (20th Feb), the notarial deeds are ready and just await final signature

It's a nice wide 20m² box, very secure and well protected from frost and humidity. Ceiling is rather high too at 2.6m. I should be able to park at least 2 cars and store all the wheels as well as my stash of spare and original parts in there. With some trolleys I could actually store a third car perpendicularly, against the back wall.

As it's about 10 minutes away from home, the Caterham would be stored only when I don't intend on driving it for a while : either when weather is really bad or when we're away for a bit.

There's no utilities, and no way to connect anything ever. I won't be able to use it as a workshop of any kind. I might be able to do the Summer/Winter wheels swap at most.

🏎️ Looking forward, we could see a "Caterham & Boterham" tour before the car goes to House of Speed for the 40 000 km service; there's a track day on April 3rd and the Club Team Lotus Belgium season opener on April 12th. Then there are 11 months after that.
