Son of a biche(*)
(*) 'biche' is the french word for doe
Oh deer 🦌
I didn't see that one coming. Literally. The poor thing, a roe deer actually, just teleported in front of my nose. There was no time to react.
There was no impact for us either. I've had scarier encounters with birds in the windscreen; except there was no damage.
After a busy day getting the car back from MH7 who had to replace a faulty oxygen sensor (an upgraded wideband one that was behaving very erratically) followed by the afternoon at House of Speed for the inauguration of the large showroom and new workshop 🥰, we hopped to Luxembourg to check how the engine management was going.
It was perfect, the car is silky smooth and very gnarly at the same time, thanks again to MH7 for the time spent pinpointing that intermittent issue. And having my car ready for the trip to the Vosges area and Black Forest from May 1st to 4th.
So, we were cruising back home with the boot full of liquor, Easter chocolates and a pair of new driving shoes when that son of a biche jumped on us. The image is the same as the usual depiction on roadsigns. Except he came from the left.
I wasn't driving fast, probably between 60 to 70 kph on that super-scenic stretch along the Lienne river (more of a stream). It's limited to 70kph in summer but I think it was still under the winter 90 kph limit. The area is known for the game that comes drinking at sunset. We usually drive there to see those roe deers on purpose...
Just a bit of fiber then, a dent on the bonnet, a headlamp bracket to be replaced. The radiator as well, it's quite curved and leaking from the welds on both sides
The protection offered by the Suzuki blue coolant has its limits, by the look of things.
A tow truck was there in about half an hour, my dear friend Nounours 🐻 offered to come and pick us up. "You centered him well" he told me. Followed by "I knew I was on the correct road when I crossed the truck with your car on it". All good fun 😊
The car is fully insured, I will financially recover from this 🐯
EDIT on May 10th : The steering wheel is bent and will need replacing, with the wishbones, upright, wing, and wingstay.
